via SDC install issues
Published on October 5, 2007 By raisinjack In WindowBlinds
several days before the release of WB6 I discovered that the latest(at that time) beta was x64 Vista compatible. I am running Vista x64 Ultimate. I install it and it works flawlessly. Then the release of WB6 appears on SDC and I update to that. Upon completetion the config page appears and a dialog box about restarting which I do.Upon restart I open WB6 only to find that the config page appears but it does absolutety nothing(wont change settings or skins) so I dutifully uninstall, restart and reinstall the release version of WB6. Now what is different this time are the boxes about skin location changing and restart. I do the restart and -voila! all now works ok. Now today a new version of WB6 appears on SDC and I update this version and guess what- the same thing happens again-yada-yada-yada. So here we go again with the uninstall keep my files and restart and then reinstall the latest version. Again I get the file moving dialog along with the restart box and I do this and now we are back to ok again. Is this the way it's going to be from now on- uninstall the reinstall to the latest version......

There was a problem with the update when on 64 bit Vista.  This has now been resolved and there should be another update.

Agrippa: That pixelation is nothing to do with WB.  I suspect you tried to apply an icon package and the cache needs rebuilding.

Seronjsky: You do not need this update as it only fixes the problem that an earlier update caused.

I am going to guess you upgraded from an earlier WB version?  If so there is a problem with the installer replacing some in use files.  The solution is to uninstall WB, reboot, then delete c:\windows\system32\wbload.dll and c:\windows\syswow64\wbload.dllv (if they exist) and then reinstall WB 6.

Edit: you're right. I guess Theme Manager must have done something when I installed it, even though I didn't open it. Anyway, I removed it and then applied an icon pack with IP and voilà! All's back to normal.
